
Ipek Onaran, who was born in Izmir in 1985, started to swim at the age of 6. After switching to the triathlon branch at the age of 11, she started her professional sports career in 2002 by entering the national team.
During 2002-2006 she has competed as an individual and national team athlete at home and abroad. She had "Youth Women Balkans 2nd Rank" in 2004 and "Women's Balkans 3rd Rank" in 2006.
She continues her career as an Ironman Triathlete since 2014 and also teaches mathematics besides sports.
Ipek Onaran has won the right to compete in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She has the best achievement up to the 14th in his age group in the World Championship in Australia in 2017.
Ipek Onaran, who was entitled to participate in the 2018 World Championship, was the first athlete to achieve this for 4 consecutive years.
Ipek Onaran, who made his first full ironman race at the North American Championship on April 28th 2018, finished 2nd in her age group (best among the Turkish sportsmen ever),with a time of 9 hours 34 minutes 42 seconds.
